These networks while some are better than others aren’t just a free for all and wherever possible reality aviation lore down to the simplest of NOTAMs like a temporary taxiway closure are adhered to. Now if you don’t fly online or you do and strictly fly only VFR throwing $50 or whatever it is can be justified but online and IFR? Waste of money if you ask me and possible headaches will come about.Īnyways, this is a bit off topic though I wanted to awnser your question. Flying a procedure that has changed significantly can cause issues if you’re still using old data. It most certainly is appreciated by controllers as a majority are flying using an up to date AIRAC and pilots are on the same page especially with SIDs and STARs. With the GTN 750 I will never go back to using an FMS. They make the flight experience much more enjoyable. I hesitated at first and then took the plunge and both both and have never looked back. So on those aircraft I use the popup window and it works just fine. I have some aircraft that do not support the GTN integration into the instrument panel. You can do that either on the panel integrated into the aircraft (if supported by the developer) or through the popup. Once I have the GTN programmed I only bring the popup up when I need to change frequencies, select an approach etc. Pressing the hotkey brings up the GTN popup which can be sized and moved off the edge of the screen but unfortunately cannot be brought up on a second monitor. I have the programmed for the 750 and the alt programmed for the 650. You can create a hot key on the keyboard in XP11 to bring up the GTN. In actuality I only use one navigation aid when I fly so I use the 750. I have both the GTN 750 and 650 (only because I have some aircraft that support both).
